FullSizeRender 18

What is Bentonite Clay?

Bentonite clay, also known as Montmorillonite clay is composed of ash produced by volcanos. The name, Bentonite stems from the largest known source of clay found in Fort Benton, Wyoming. The name Montmorillonite is derived from the region of France called Montmorillon, where the clay was first discovered.

It has been reported that several indigenous cultures living in regions of the Andes, Central Africa and Australia have consumed Bentonite clay in numerous ways for centuries in order to protect the body from disease. Because the clay is readily available and requires no modern processing, it served (and continues to serve) as a natural and cost-effective way to “detoxify” the body.

Why Use it?

Bentonite clay has an alkalizing effect on the body, it can help balance gut bacteria and restore pH levels.

The benefits of using Bentonite clay may include:

Not sure which brand to purchase?

Reach for a natural calcium Bentonite clay with a pH of 8.7 or above. Be sure to select an odorless and tasteless varietal with a non-gritty texture. If you’re still skeptical, I would recommend checking out the Tierra Buena Company.
